All in one place: processes, applications and teamwork combined

With the Advanced Edition of SAP Build Work Zone, SAP offers a central entry point with an extensive feature set based on SAP BTP, providing the right platform for a wide range of use cases. From the classic content page to the precise integration of relevant applications and the extension with customized UI Integration Cards, right through to active collaboration in knowledge bases, document libraries or discussion forums, the Advanced Edition leaves hardly anything to be desired. Integration with third-party solutions such as Microsoft Teams or Microsoft SharePoint Online is also included in the Advanced Edition’s feature set.

Compared to the Standard Edition, the Advanced Edition of SAP Build Work Zone therefore offers additional, extended features for content management, web content, interactive and appealing workspaces, workflow creation with guided experiences, an extended menu structure and easy integration with third-party solutions such as Microsoft Teams or Microsoft SharePoint Online. In summary, the Advanced Edition of SAP Build Work Zone meets a wide range of requirements around the key topics of content, documents, collaboration and applications. It is important to know that this is a standardized solution: all functional areas are closely interlinked and can be configured to your own needs, but their fundamentals cannot be redesigned or »beefed up«.

In our experience, the Advanced Edition of SAP Build Work Zone is therefore recommended above all when all of its key features are actually going to be used. When the range of functions and your own requirements match, the overall package is almost unbeatable.

The following three example pages show how SAP Build Work Zone, Advanced Edition, appears to end users in everyday work. From the personal homepage to topic-specific workspaces and area-specific feed updates, the examples show how content, applications and information are made available in a clear, target-group-oriented way. This gives a first impression of how employees interact with the system in daily use.

Maintain pages and content in a decentralized way

Authorized editors contribute their own structures and content

The following three examples show how extensively pages and content can be edited in the Advanced Edition: from adjusting navigation structures and freely combining different content building blocks to conveniently creating and maintaining text. With the Workpage Editor, editors can design pages flexibly and combine different content with one another. Text, images, videos, banners, applications, interactive cards and dynamic content lists can be added, arranged and updated by drag & drop without any programming knowledge. The page structure can also be adapted to the respective requirements via sections and columns. In addition, editors can create and publish their own content such as news and blog posts, wiki pages, knowledge articles, documents, events, surveys or discussion topics. Content can be enriched with images, links and other media, made accessible to specific target groups and, if required, provided in multiple languages. This allows current information, knowledge and applications to be published in the digital workplace in a clear and targeted way. The exact range of functions depends on the assigned roles and permissions within the respective workspace.

Administration of SAP Build Work Zone, Advanced Edition

Central configuration in the Administration Console

SAP Build Work Zone Advanced Edition is administered via the so-called Administration Console – it is opened via the settings on the profile picture in the header area at the top right, provided the logged-in user has the appropriate authorization. In the menu on the left, administrators find all the configuration options of SAP Build Work Zone, Advanced Edition – from theming and branding to the activation of individual features and UI integration. Using three selected examples, we show you below what daily work in the administration area looks like.

With VANTAiO iNFOHUB, you extend SAP Build Work Zone with a powerful add-on for the targeted delivery of information within your company. Instead of delivering content to all employees indiscriminately, information objects – such as important system messages or topic-specific posts from the business departments – can be provided precisely for the relevant target group. You decide individually which users receive a piece of information: using dynamic filters stored directly on the respective widget, the target group can be defined flexibly – so relevant content always reaches exactly the groups of people for whom it really matters. The following three examples from a user’s perspective illustrate what this looks like in practice.

Joule Work –
The official app for SAP Work Zone, Advanced Edition

Up to 70% of employees in companies do not work at a fixed workstation – in other words, employees without a fixed PC workstation are not an insignificant minority but often even the majority of the workforce. This target group is currently difficult to reach. The increasingly widespread use of smartphones both requires and enables a rethink of established communication channels in companies too. For SAP Build Work Zone, Advanced Edition, SAP provides an app called Joule Work, available for download in the App Store and on Google Play. This native app lets you access the workspaces, content and applications contained in the Work Zone on mobile devices too, provided they are supported by the respective smartphone.
