A showcase project with a pioneering spirit: The international HR portal from innogy.

innogy – Vortrag Digital Future HR Portal

"How we built a high-usability HR portal for our employees with an agile project approach and intensive customer involvement." – innogy SE, the leading European energy company with more than 42,000 employees and activities in 16 countries, presented its new portal solution at the meeting of the DSAG HR working group on November 29, 2018.

The lecture hall was fulled to the last seat and the interest of the representatives of the DSAG working group was great: Under the title "Digital Future HR Portal – The central entry point into information and applications of the human resources department of innogy" presented by Harry Eichblatt, HR Innovation & Transformation Manager, innogy SE , together with Björn Adam, Head of Software Solutions, VANTAiO, the jointly realized portal project.

The challenge with the relaunch of the international innogy HR portal was the clear focus on the needs of the approximately 13,600 employees with portal access. Essential here: the clearer presentation and structure of the content, reduction of the pages, greater integration and interlocking of apps (especially self-services) as well as a highly functional search.

All this should be implemented as part of an agile procedure in the shortest possible project duration and at manageable costs. The modular concept of VANTAiO was the ideal solution for this – combining modularity and flexibility.

Quite consistently, the users were involved from the beginning through surveys and evaluations. A strategy team initially developed the "ideal HR portal", which was then implemented using agile project methods. Between the individual sprints, the results were repeatedly presented in sounding boards and adapted to customer requirements.

Specialized information, contacts, processes and documents were provided thematically structured and displayed attractively. Various technologies, such as SAP WebDynpro, SAP Fiori, Successfactors and Microsoft have been integrated and linked in the SAP-based portal. The provided workflow functionality makes it possible to use processes cross-platform and cross-technology as well as device independent, e.g. also mobile.

The result is convincing: The acceptance of the new HR portal is high and the feedback from the employees is almost entirely approving. There are around 11 visits per employee per month, especially with the app pages on top positions.

Björn Adam: "The pioneering spirit of innogy has definitely paid off – great if an ambitious project is rewarded by the positive response of the users."
