VANTAiO Bootcamp 2020 – concentrated SAP portal competence in Mainz.

VANTAiO auf dem Jahreskongress 2018

Following the positive response to last year's events, the third VANTAiO Bootcamp for SAP technology specialists was on the agenda in January 2020. On Friday, January 24, partners, freelancers and the VANTAiO team met in Mainz in a lively atmosphere. Not only for professional exchange of information and experience, but also for the necessary entertainment factor and physical well-being was well provided for.

This year, the starting signal was given on the evening before: At the cosy get-together in the bar of the neighbouring Hyatt Hotel, there was already eager discussion. The focus was clearly on the transition from SAP Enterprise Portal to the SAP Cloud Portal world. And of course the question of how long the SAP Enterprise Portal will really be supported.

On the morning of January 24, Stefan Bohlmann, Björn Adam and Michael Beining from VANTAiO kicked things off with an overview of the SAP Cloud Platform and the portal services provided on it. The SAP Fiori Launchpad was of course also discussed in this context. The near future is casting its shadow: The outlook for the new SAP Digital Workplace (beta), which SAP will officially present at SAPPHIRE in Orlando, was also extremely interesting.

One of the highlights of the day was the presentation by Oliver Lehmann from SAP on the topics of SAP Conversational AI, Machine Learning and Robot Process Automation. This also provided plenty to talk about during the lunch break.

After the well-deserved refreshment, the presentation of the brand new VANTAiO products was on the agenda: The "VANTAiO Enterprise News Manager" enables SAP customers to manage news and information from various sources and channels in real time – from company news and system messages to target group-specific process information. The clear display of this content is possible on a wide variety of devices, whether desktop PC, tablet, mobile phone or – using the "VANTAiO Enterprise TV Display" - also on permanently installed TV sets.

The next item on the agenda was the presentation of the current version of the low-code development platform "storm" by Lars Laegner from frequi. With "storm", the development of full-stack applications for SAP can be massively accelerated. At the end of the day, Michael Beining took up the topic "SAPUI5 Card Development" and presented, among other things, various practical examples for its concrete use.

The unanimous conclusion of a successful and informative day: After the boot camp is before the boot camp! All participants are already looking forward to the next event in 2021.
