Joule Work App – the Employee app based on SAP

Services & information. Anytime.

Of course, a modern digital workplace should also offer the option of mobile access. SAP provides the native “Joule Work” app for this purpose, which allows you to quickly and easily reach your entire workforce—from the office to the production floor—especially via push notifications!

The app is available for free via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store and can be seamlessly integrated with your existing SAP system landscape (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, or SAP HCM).

Company news, HR services, applications, and processes are all available in one central location—secure, mobile, and personalized.

Joule Work App –
the Employee app based on SAP

Services & information. Anytime.

A modern digital workplace should naturally also offer mobile access. SAP Build Work Zone is used by default via a web browser, and its content is displayed depending on the available space in the browser window. With this responsive behavior, it is generally possible to use SAP Build Work Zone on a smartphone as well – as a so-called web app.

In addition, you can provide your employees with the native Joule Work Mobile App and promptly reach the entire workforce – from the office to production, especially via push notifications!

Company news, HR services, applications and processes are centrally available in one place – secure, mobile and personalized.

The app is provided free of charge by SAP and is seamlessly integrated into your SAP system landscape (e.g. SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors or SAP HCM) - on smartphone or tablet!

A familiar phenomenon in companies

Despite various information channels, no one knows what is going on!

Attention illustration: important HR information does not arrive, example of a new travel expense policy

Important information and self-services reach employees only partially or too late – especially those without a PC or email address

Loss of time and data protection risks: managers and HR teams have to pass on information manually or use insecure channels such as WhatsApp.

Difficult-to-access processes such as vacation requests or training information lead to a lack of transparency in internal communication

Lack of employee involvement leads to frustration and lower identification with the company.

Lots of information and apps – but no central access point!

Many companies struggle with heterogeneous system landscapes and information overload: various apps, intranet, wiki, overflowing inboxes, scattered chats and outdated notices. Important information gets lost or does not reach employees without a PC at all – resulting in misunderstandings, delays and additional effort.

Too much information, too little guidance

Why an employee app with SAP?

There are numerous providers of employee apps. Most solutions aim to improve internal communication and collaboration within companies. This is where SAP makes the crucial difference and also offers secure integration of SAP and non-SAP applications.

Through integrated self-services, operational employees ("blue-collar workers" or "deskless workers") can finally submit requests, retrieve certificates or update their personal data – directly and without detours. This makes processes faster, more transparent and easier to track.

In addition to its mobile, intuitive design, the app promotes not only efficiency but also trust – because every piece of information and every service is secure, relevant and available exactly when needed. Thanks to the secure connection to SAP systems (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors, S/4HANA, HCM, etc.), data remains protected and processes are reliably automated. Login takes place on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) via single sign-on; all access is role-based and GDPR-compliant.

Two experiences in one native mobile app!

SAP-managed or
customer-managed

Experience #1:
Joule Work

SAP-managed

With the SAP-managed experience, employees can complete complex tasks even on the go. Users define their goals, and the AI carries out the necessary steps across systems to achieve the desired outcome. Changes to the user interface, however, are not possible here.

Experience #2:
SAP Build Work Zone

Customer-managed

With the customer-managed experience , an individually configurable, customer-owned digital workplace is created. Companies can bring together content, applications, processes and services according to their own requirements while also using Joule!

SAP-managed Experience

In the SAP Joule Work experience, Conversations, Spaces and Voice Interaction are available as key mobile functions. Conversations – ask questions and trigger workflows even on mobile. Spaces – seamlessly continue ongoing work contexts. Voice Interaction – start conversations, trigger actions and receive answers.

Customer-managed Experience

New name, familiar functions: SAP Mobile Start has been replaced by Joule Work as the mobile application and receives a new app icon as well as an updated user interface. All core functions remain available, allowing customers and end users to continue working in existing workflows without interruption.
